Sergeant Pepper’s Gets a Full Remastering and Re-Release

Based in Los Angeles, Roger Paglia serves as Recorded Records CEO and founder and guides an indie record label that also provides recording and production services. Roger Paglia has an extensive background in the art form of the rock album.

The spring of 2017 witnessed a highly anticipated moment for Beatles fans, with the remastering of their 1967 classic Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and its deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition release on CD and vinyl. As reviewed in Rolling Stone, the package showcases groundbreaking sonic explorations, with a well-thought-out stereo version prepared for the first time that adheres to the meticulousness that went into the original mono LP. The results are a 3-D vividness to the familiar music, with each part played better defined and more powerful than in the original recording.

Another disc in the collection presents demos and works-in-progress from the studio vaults and provides a fascinating glimpse into the band’s evolving conception of sound at a time of rapid progress on what is considered rock’s first concept album. Particularly noteworthy are the spare origins of Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane, which were part of the Sergeant Pepper’s sessions but released as singles instead.
